FCGC PRESENTS FAMILY EVENT2010

The society supports cultural heritage. We value the quality of life in this area, and preserving the history helps preserve the quality of life.

An upcoming family history fair in October will give Fayette County and surrounding  residents a chance to find out about their family trees while spotlighting  resources many don't know exists.

Family history becomes addictive . It's like finding that piece to the puzzle that got lost. You know it's missing and you try to find it.

This is for the whole community. Anybody, anywhere. It doesn't matter what denomination they are.

Classes for beginners, family history buffs and everyone else in between will be offered at the one-day event

When you stop by a table and find something that would help you in your own ancestor search, you may be to borrow the material for a few minutes and make copies.

Local groups and other Family History Societies will be
represented and there will be a Help Desk for your
enquiries.

FAMILY HISTORY FAIR 2010

THE FAYETTE COUNTY GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY

2ND ANNUAL FAMILY HISTORY FAIR

Saturday, October 23, 2010 - 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

RANDOLPH RECREATION CENTER

653 E. Pearl St., La Grange, TX

We invite you to attend our Family History Fair, which will feature five speakers on genealogical topics, as well as exhibits by genealogy societies, historical and ethnic organizations, museums, libraries, authors, booksellers and Chambers of Commerce, etc., all of which will be offering genealogical and historical information to the public.

In addition, the free event will have an ongoing mini-computer workshop.  LDS and other genealogical online information will be available to attendees with an expert genealogist offering assistance.   Beginning and advanced genealogists will find something of interest throughout the day.   Our purpose is to get people excited about researching their family history and to learn what information is available to assist them in their quest.

We hope that you or your organizational representative will be able to join us for the day.  If anyone is interested in having an exhibit, please contact Connie Sneed, FCGS President by October 15, 2010: phone - 979-250-3834 or email – lggensoc@yahoo.com  Exhibit space is free, but limited.  Please indicate how many persons will be manning each exhibit.  The doors to the facility will be open by 9 a.m. for set-up.  Remember to bring handouts for the attendees, as well as all supplies needed to set up your exhibit.

Wi-Fi will be available for public use.  A food booth will also be selling snacks and refreshments.  Feel free to bring a sack lunch.  An hour will be allowed for lunch for those who wish to go elsewhere for a “quick” meal.
